John Stimler, DO, CPC, FACEP
Dr. John Stimler is a founder and managing member of BSA Healthcare.
For the past twenty-five years he has been actively involved, at the local and national levels, in issues related to emergency medicine practice
management. Dr. Stimler is a graduate of the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa. He completed his residency in
emergency medicine at University Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
Dr. Stimler is an attending clinical faculty member at the Shands Jacksonville emergency medicine residency program that currently trains 54
residents in PGY I, II, and III. He also practices clinical emergency medicine at St. Luke’s Hospital in Jacksonville and at Flagler Hospital
in St. Augustine.
Upon completing his residency, Dr. Stimler served as the acting director of the emergency medicine residency program at University Medical
Center for eighteen months. He then helped found Emergency Physicians Incorporated (EPI), an emergency medicine group that grew to contract
with twelve hospital emergency departments. As executive vice president, Dr. Stimler managed all reimbursement activities for EPI, and helped
negotiate most hospital coverage and managed care contracts for the group. He was also President of EPI Clinics, an entity that operated, and
subsequently sold, two freestanding urgent care centers.
Dr. Stimler has provided multiple practice management consultations related to emergency medicine group formation, creation of administrative
job descriptions, establishment of incentive payment programs based on RVU calculations, Risk Management assessments of ED Groups, ED facilities
and hospitals and also involved in evaluating proper staffing patterns, corporate structure and administrative coordination of ED Groups.
He is past president of the Florida College of Emergency Physicians (FCEP), and was chairman of the FCEP Medical Economics Committee for many
years. Additionally, Dr. Stimler was a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Governmental Affairs Committee, and is
currently a member of the ACEP Reimbursement Committee.
