Robert A. Zack, ESQ
Mr. Zack has been practicing law for 25 years. Licensed in both Florida and Michigan, he is a
Florida Board Certified Health Care Lawyer and a Certified Circuit Court Mediator.
Mr. Zack began his legal career as a litigator in Michigan, where he defended medical malpractice
and drug product liability cases. After several years, he went "in house" and became a corporate
attorney for a major teaching hospital in the Detroit, Michigan area.
In 1990, Mr. Zack served as General Counsel at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton. In 1996
the hospital was sold, and he accepted a position as Associate General Counsel for Inphynet Medical
Management, a publicly traded physician practice management company. In 1997, following the sale of
Inphynet, Mr. Zack served as General Counsel of Prison Health Services, Inc, a publicly traded
correctional health care provider to over 200 jail sites throughout the country.
In 2001, Mr. Zack left PHS to accept a short-term appointment as chief legal counsel for the Wayne
County Community Mental Health Agency, the country's largest governmental mental health agency. Upon
completion of this project, he accepted a position with Broad and Cassell, one of Florida's largest
law firms, as head of the firm's health care group in Orlando.
In 2002, Mr. Zack opened his own law practice in Sarasota. His practice includes regulatory work,
licensure matters, general business and reimbursement matters, employment issues, contract law, risk
management, and general health law matters. He has been actively involved in alternative risk financing
for not only health care clients, but general businesses also. Mr. Zack has lectured extensively on a
variety of health law topics and has authored several articles and book chapters related to health law
issues.
